We assume about 60,000 people visited for Garden Walk Buffalo, the country's largest garden tour. That number is based on the number of maps we hand out or are downloaded from our website, figuring two people per map. We don't sell tickets or require reservations, the entire two-day event is free, so we really have no idea how many people attend. Gardens get visited, buses are full, HQs are busy, hotels are full and streets on the Westside are never fuller. A garden tourism expert in Connecticut tells us we're being VERY conservative with our numbers of attendees, just based on what he knows of attendance based on number of gardens on a tour.

So that means that any numbers you see here would be representative of the overall event if they were multiplied by 38. Not that exactly 38x7 (from CT) would be accurate, but you get a sense of how large the numbers can get.

  1. 60,000 is huge! And, I'd think quite terrifying to the gardeners - you have a great group of folks to let the masses come and enjoy their neighbourhoods and gardens. Kudos.

  2. Barbarapc,
And yes, I'm always amazed when gardeners sign up for another year. And happy belated Thanksgiving!
